Went down to Jurong Point to meet Shirley for lunch. She originally said we'd eat at Fish & Co., but she changed her mind and we ended up at Pizza Hut. We gave money to charity and got a pair of coupons and a wristband. So if anyone wants to go to Pizza Hut with me anytime soon, let me know. Then I went to the POSB branch at Jurong Point to replace my old ATM card. Got myself that blue one that allows you to withdraw money from your account while overseas. Then I went down to collect my diploma certificate and transcript, since it was finally ready for collection. So yeah, I now apparently can tag on "DAP" after my name. Nothing great to shout about, but hey, it's still a diploma, and I did do some work for it. Perhaps less than I could have, but that's partly because after the first term I realised that the bar wasn't exactly being set very high. Then I went down to Raffles City to shop for a bit, before meeting the other MOE fellowship people. I picked up the Vintage International edition of Patrick Süskind's Perfume. Have been wanting to buy that novel since the movie came out, but I didn't want the Penguin edition, which is what Kinokuniya stocks. Resisted the temptation to buy a whole stack of other books, so I'm quite proud of my self-control today! I also found the time to finish reading Yeow Kai Chai's Pretend I'm Not Here. His poetry reminds me of T.S. Eliot's, in the sense that I feel there's meaning to it that completely eludes my grasp because I'm not intelligent enough. A humbling experience indeed... |
