Happy birthday to Singapore! I finally heard this year's National Day song, Shine For Singapore, which is kind of nice. I like that they recorded a more upbeat version for the finale, like in 2005, when that year's song, Reach Out For The Skies, had a dance version. I loved that song, although most of my friends hated it. They prefer songs like 1998's Home, which frankly, nauseates me after a few listens. It's the kind of song that's nice to have on your iPod if you're feeling homesick, but otherwise, no thanks. Many people must disagree with me, of course, since in 2004, a remixed version of Home was the National Day song! I caught the first episode of First Class earlier, and I must say, it's pretty damn funny. A caricature of what goes on in our schools obviously, just like our original script for the TSPC. In this case, stereotypes make for instant laughs. This week: The King's Week |
