Friendship Day/Cards For Sister/Grab Some Nuts Day/Watermelon Day/Family Day/International Forgiveness Day/Bratwurst Day/New World Day/Raspberry Festival (Idaho)
2008-08-03 @ 11:37 p.m.

We began the day in Chinatown's Petaling Street. A place like this is a lot less charming in the daytime though. Had Teochew char kway teow, which looks and tastes like the Penang one, except with cockles. Brunch taken care of, we wandered the street for a bit, before heading to Central Market. We did the fish spa, just for fun. It felt like a prolonged case of pins and needles, very ticklish. Didn't buy anything there either, as most of the shops were selling very touristy stuff that I didn't need. There was one shop selling gemstones, RM10 for a handful. Now that was tempting, but I'm glad I didn't succumb, for a reason that'll become clear later. From there we headed to Suria KLCC, which rivals VivoCity in physical scale and human traffic. The place was crawling with so many people, it was just insane. We had more Penang char kway teow at Little Penang Kafé! Popped into both Topman and Esprit, but the only pair of jeans that I vaguely wanted and was also on sale, was also too similar to several of the 18 pairs I already own. We grabbed dinner from A&W, which is sorely missed in Singapore. We sat outside Suria KLCC, admiring the view of the Petronas Twin Towers. We wanted to travel up to the Sky Bridge, but tickets for the day had all been snapped up. Chatted for a while, then decided to do a final round of shopping. I headed up to Kinokuniya, and spent most of my remaining cash (and swiped my MasterCard) by buying myself all the books in The Dresden Files series, save the latest one. Saw Vintage International editions of Michel Houellebecq's novels that can't be found in Singapore. Was tempted, but resisted. Though if we head back again tomorrow before catching our coach back to Singapore, I can't say I'll be able to hold myself back!
