Just got back from a meet-up with other Christian MOE scholars. The guy who opened his house to us is also called Ian. Haha! We're going back again in two weeks, which is good, as being in Yio Chu Kang, it's so near my house compared to most places that I usually find myself in. Today's induction felt a bit draggy because the whole programme could have been compressed into half the time that it actually took without significant impact on the delivery of the content. Food was pretty good, as usual. Should probably find out who does the catering for MOE. The most memorable event of the day, however, has got to be my taxi ride to MOE in the morning, for which I paid $33. I know, daylight robbery, yeah? I was stuck in a jam practically the moment I got in the taxi, and didn't get any semblance of smooth traffic until I reached North Buona Vista Road. After this incident, I have a totally renewed faith in MRT as the ideal mode of public transport. As such, I eagerly await the opening of the Circle and Downtown Lines. I don't really care if the MRT fares go up, because I think they're still pretty cheap for the convenience that they'll provide once the rail network has expanded to the extent that the government currently envisions. |
