FlashGet seems to be handling the torrents normally again. So maybe it was just one of those passing hiccups. Was listening to Craig David and Enrique Iglesias earlier today. Musical flashback! I finished reading Dai Sijie's Balzac And The Little Chinese Seamstress, which Bernard recommended as being very nice. I kind of agree, although I somehow think reading it in Dai's original French would have been nicer. I'm one of those people who believe that no matter how good a translation is, something is inevitably lost in the movement from one language to another. That should by no means be seen as a criticism of translators or translation in general, but merely an observation that original and translation rightfully possess individual artistic integrity. Need to finish reading a couple of books this week before OBS, and I also need to seriously think about getting started on that reading list. One of the novels is actually by Angela Carter, whose work I quite admire. Not really looking forward to the rest of the list, albeit more from unfamiliarity with the writers than actual distaste.
