Love A Tree Day/Acorn Festival (North Carolina)

Spent more than $250 on books at Kinokuniya! It sort of shows that I can't resist spending money once I've got it. I finally bought Carl Sagan's Black Ep trilogy, even though I've read all of them before. I'm quite proud of myself for not buying the whole set of Greg Egan's work as reissued by Gollancz, of which I've only not read Luminous. They're still awfully tempting though, as they'd look so nice on my shelf and I do like Egan's writing because it's full of cool ideas that I usually wish I understood better than I do. Once again, I didn't manage to get the rest of the Dune novels, and apparently some of the Ace editions aren't even available at Kinokuniya anymore! This is such a terrible turn of events. If I can just resist going back to Kinokuniya until Sunday is over, then I can hold off buying stuff until the next time there's a members' discount. I've sort of promised myself not to spend on anything other than food until the end of the month. I also will not buy the rest of the Dune novels until I've finished reading the seven that I already have. As for the Egan books, if his latest novel, Incandescence, appears on the shelves the next time I'm at Kinokuniya during a members' discount promotion, I'm getting the whole set, but only if I can find the whole set. I think that's a relatively reasonable way of making the decision, since the point of buying the books is to get my hands on as much of his writing as I can. I swear that if I had spent all that money over the years on clothes instead of books, I'd have an awesome wardrobe that even Eugene would acknowledge as stellar. Unfortunately, usually a cool Vintage International edition is just too much for me to resist. Sigh...
