I just realised today that I can't find my meningococcus immunisation certificate anywhere in my room. I think I slipped it into that copy of Rilke I was carrying around the day I got the jab, and then I returned the book on Friday without checking. Damn. Mel says that nobody actually asks to see it, they just ask when you got the jab, but I think I'll just head down to the library at Woodlands to try my luck on Monday. Just too bad that I returned the book on a Friday, so it's still listed as in transit to the library it was from. Maybe I'll go on Tuesday instead, since it probably won't be back there on Monday yet. Oh well. Shirley says she's going to BooksActually on Tuesday, so I'm going to spend money on books again, most likely Byatt and Nabokov. I'm still quite annoyed that I can't find the Vintage International edition of Byatt's Possession anywhere! I found a cheap copy of Hoban's Turtle Diary on Alibris, but I can't order it yet because I'm getting it sent to Vaish and she hasn't moved to her new place yet. Sigh. I hope nobody buys it before I do, and I hope it's really the edition it's advertised as being, because I only want the Bloomsbury paperback, and those are so freaking expensive because it seems to be out of print and the price has soared. The cheapest I could find on Amazon was around $55! The annoying thing is that it's the only novel of his I don't have, except for his latest and only because that hasn't come out in the edition I want yet.
