Watched The Other Boleyn Girl with Kay Hwee, based on Philippa Gregory's novel of the same name. Did a bit of research when I got home, and the novel (and consequently the film) actually takes some historical liberties. (That said, there's seldom such a thing as cut-and-dried history.) Nonetheless, it's an entertaining enough movie, to me at least. I have a soft spot for court intrigues. I was telling Shirley that if I'd been born and raised in the court environment, I'd have excelled but not succeeded. The distinction lies in the eventual outcome of all the politicking and scheming. I might have been savvy enough to secure a position as a baron or viscount, maybe even an earl, but I'm neither ambitious nor ruthless enough to advance to become a marquess or duke, let alone marry into the royal family, which seems to be pretty much the ultimate prize for a noble family.
