Vaish's mum's nice! I'm not saying that just because she picked up the tab for me and Eugene at tcc in Changi Terminal 3 just now. I bought the limited deluxe edition of It Won't Be Soon Before Long! I think I love that album more than Songs About Jane now. Finished sorting through the last of my Café Del Mar albums. Finished reading Suzy Zeus Gets Organized, which is a novel in verse (like Vikram Seth's The Golden Gate, which I've only managed to get through the first chapter of) by Maggie Robbins, which is snappy in its delivery and oddly endearing by the time you've hit the end. The work is apparently semi-autobiographical, and Robbins is also a practising psychotherapist who used to suffer from bipolar disorder. Altogether quite an engaging work, with the kind of modern sensibility that I find very refreshing. Alternatively, you can just take it that I like reading about people behaving badly. Niven Govinden's We Are The New Romantics? Michael Smith's The Giro Playboy? Love them too. Am now zipping through Jan Lars Jensen's Nervous System, which chronicles his descent into mental illness and journey to recovery. I'm getting through the book quite quickly, which is a bit surprising, since there's nothing particularly entrancing about the plot, but I feel compelled to just keep reading. Oh well. Shall finish it and start on another book tonight... |
