I thought I was going to be late getting to Kay Hwee's, but I turned out to be no later than either Eugene or Ka Tsai. Bumped into Ka Tsai coming out of the train, and we subsequently bumped into while crossing the road. Anyway, mahjong was the usual story, with Ka Tsai winning most of the chips. Again. Anyway, I went to town to wait for Thong and Vaish. Vaish was terribly late, and Thong was doing a bit of shopping, so I spent most of my time in Kinokuniya. I didn't know a third book had been written in Baxter and Clarke's A Time Odyssey series, so I just stood around in the store and read the first 19 chapters. I'll buy the book if it's still around when Kinokuniya's having a 20% members' discount. Reviews on Amazon have been generally negative though, and after skipping ahead to peek at the ending, I agree. The "conclusion" raises more questions than it answers, almost as if the co-authors were setting things up for a fourth book. I thought Time's Eye was good, Sunstorm was okay, but I don't think that Firstborn is going to be anything great. Still, I'll buy it to complete the set in my bookshelf. Eugene met us and we hung out with Vaish for a really short while, so it was more of a preview for next Wednesday's session than anything else. Lots to do tomorrow...
