International Women's Day/Forsythia Festival (Georgia)/Maple Festival (Connecticut)/Balloon Roundup (Washington)

Picnic at the Botanic Gardens was fun! We should definitely do stuff like that more often. Dexter was there, and Ben Woon stopped by after work too, just to say hi. Thank God for the good weather! Then we went to Dempsey to grab a bite at P.S. Cafe. I wish the whole Dempsey area were more accessible, because without a car, it simply requires too much effort just to get to place to chill and hang out. Anyway, tuition in the morning went okay, I guess. It helped that the mother had some idea of what her son needed help with, and I've got some ideas for what to do with him next week. He's promised to e-mail me an essay, so I'll have to find some time to read that. I also have to re-read Lord Of The Flies, because that's what he's studying next term. I'm a bit ambivalent about that book really. Not really one of my favourite novels. I was flipping through some of my old work while trying to look for stuff that might be helpful for my tutee, and I've realised that my written work is actually best characterised as above average with occasional flashes of brilliance. It is on these sporadic insights that my intellectual reputation is founded. With the luxury of time, I can transfer my thoughts to paper, but under time constraints, I abandon such efforts and settle for being several notches above mediocrity but still falling short of being consistently stellar. Sigh...
