Am finally back! I've checked my e-mail and Facebook account, browsed through friends' blogs, and generally feel reconnected with the world again. I got English and Mandarin versions of the Shanghai railway network, which fulfils my obsession with railway maps. I'm one of the people who actually cares about what the MRT map will look like in a decade for aesthetic reasons and would have been seriously perturbed if the Holland Village had been named anything other than Holland Village. Haha! We took the maglev to the airport, which was cool, although the journey was over before it even really began, so it's a bit of a tourist trap in that regard. Airplane trips are great for watching movies that you otherwise wouldn't waste good money on, so I saw The Seeker: The Dark Is Rising (complete disgrace of an adaptation, and I actually loved the series), Resident Evil: Extinction (I don't care if people think this genre sucks because I really love it), and The Invasion (terribly wooden acting from Nicole Kidman, who has one facial expression for 90% of the movie). Of the three, I'd only have paid to watch Resident Evil: Extinction at a cinema. In fact, I kind of think the whole Resident Evil franchise is pretty cool, kind of on the level of Final Fantasy. If I wasn't so lazy (and already playing Granado Espada), I'd actually buy a few of the games and try them out. |
