Christmas service went fine, except for the bizarre bit at the end where a Christmas version of Joyful, Joyful, We Adore Thee came up on the screen. I think I should work on evening out tonal colour across my full range. I have a pleasant, rich sound in the octave below middle C, but at all other pitches the sound isn't so nice anymore. It's not so important if I'm singing a harmony line, but the lack of resonance in the higher notes is a bummer because so much contemporary Christian music is pitched there. An extreme example is Chris Tomlin, whose songs are generally impossible for most guys to sing. It's actually not a problem for the ladies, because if you pick out the notes he's singing on the piano, you'll find that it lies comfortable within the average female vocal range. I need to work on singing with minimal accompaniment. Maybe I'll pick out a quieter set of songs for the first Sunday of 2008? Had dinner at Great World City. So many YE people! Saw Jared Anderson's CD in Precious Thots. Would have bought it, as I'm looking to expand my Christian music collection, but I decided to come home and try downloading it through FrostWire. Hey, I managed to find the Rush Of Fools debut eventually, so you can't blame me for trying with this debut album too. Not much luck though, only managed to get the first single, Running Away. Recorded three more songs from his MySpace page, and downloaded one free song off a website. Basically, I regret not buying the CD, especially since it was heavily discounted. Oh well. Maybe I can persuade my parents to drop by Great World City before Watchnight service. Haha... This week: It's About Time Week |
