I suppose the main reason why I'm so averse to a 24-hour duty is that there's something almost criminal about being on this side of the fence during daylight hours. From Monday to Friday, it can't be helped (not for another two weeks anyway), but on Saturday or Sunday, it's just awful. Now that they force us to book in the night before, they effectively rob us of an additional half-day. It's stiflingly hot right now, which is a bit disappointing because earlier in the morning there was a steady breeze and even thunder. It's just unseasonably hot for late November! Where are the patrolling dreadnoughts (that's a phrase that I can't forget since primary school in Ms Chan's class, which is about a decade ago), threatening to rain down the wrath of the heavens? All I'm seeing is a clear blue sky that's more appropriate in balmy June. Sign of global warming? Randomly, I wonder how Singapore would react if faced with the events depicted in The Snow. We'd probably survive, I guess? |
