Thanksgiving/Hockey Day/Stop The Violence Day

Zhiwei found a box of four kittens at the void deck of the HDB block opposite CMPB. He brought them home in the end because they were too cute. Haha! Not much of a cat person myself, but yeah, they were. I suppose one of the reasons why I want a pet, specifically, a dog, is that pets will love you unconditionally. I mean, you have to feed them and stuff, but they're not going to turn around and bite the hand that feeds them. Metaphorically. Do you think I could get a dog while I'm overseas? I've got no idea what I'd do with it while I'm on vacation and when I eventually come back, but I just like the idea. A bit disgruntled because I had to guess at answers for quite a few questions. Not so many that I'm in danger of failing, but still, a bit annoyed. Bumped into Alfred, Peter and Widya as I was leaving, and she was taking the train to Orchard, so we talked for a bit. She was telling me about how she missed literature, and I was thinking, why don't more people care about literature? I guess it's because most literature is inherently subversive. That's not the same thing as being anti-government, despite what you've been conditioned to believe. I think in Singapore, we're still struggling to find that balance between criticism and respect, or at least to drum it into the minds of Singaporeans. If anything, the area where we've succeeded best is in theatre, but then theatre is inherently a less threatening forum where sensitive issues can be aired. I'm quite amused to see my lecturer on Facebook, partly because I've just discovered that he's only seven years older than me!
