Eat Outside Day/College Colors Day/Hari Merdeka/Blueberry Festival (Indiana)/Gold Rush Days (California)
2007-08-31 @ 9:17 p.m.

I must say that the Army Open House is very slickly organised. It looks like a carnival more than anything else. All that's missing is a few more rides and some stalls selling junk food. The sight of even commissioned officers deferentially explaining things to civilians was worth seeing. Civilians will undoubtedly be impressed by the whole spectacle, but for people serving NS, it's a totally different matter. My colleagues and I just ambled around in the suffocating heat until we judged it a reasonable time to leave. Altogether not the worst way to end a working week. Next week is going to be awful though, in relative terms of course. Lesson plans, guard duty, essay deadline, IMT for my second combat shoot, essay deadline again. I'll be glad when next week's over. Won't be long before the next batch of trainees comes along though. Sigh...
