Scrape The Bugs Day
2007-08-21 @ 10:12 p.m.

Left camp late again because of lousy time management. You know those insurance people who masquerade as people conducting surveys on your financial habits? I detest them. They're quite rude, at least when they approach me. So far, I've got opening lines like "Eh, hello?" and in Mandarin, "Are you a Singaporean?" To which I felt like replying with a nasal American twang, "No, I'm an American-born Chinese." I wonder what sort of response that would get. Probably more fawning. Today, I got the "smoothest" approach I've encountered so far. This woman, who could obviously see that I was avoiding her (like everyone else passing through the interchange), marched right up to me and waved her clipboard in front of my face. This was while I was talking to Audrey, as I've realised that being in a telephone conversation is the best way to get the likes of them to avoid you. Unfortunately, this woman just didn't get it. So I had to brush aside her clipboard with my Learning & Behavior. Come on, have these people no sense of shame, no tact?
