System Administrator Appreciation Day/St. Pantaleone's Day/Watermelon Festival (Louisiana)/Tomato Festival (Tennessee)
2007-07-27 @ 11:23 p.m.

Tried to read the Marvell at the wake, but didn't get very far before I had to get up to serve people snacks and drinks. At least tonight there were more people who came by that I could talk with, so it wasn't as boring. I suppose I could drink beer, play cards and mahjong like my uncle's friends, but I just find it disrespectful. I know wakes are supposed to be noisy affairs, but it just seems so contradictory. What happened to respectful silence? The beer thing is just him being self-indulgent. I've never been to a wake that served anything other than water and packet drinks. I guess it doesn't take a genius to figure out that I don't particularly like my uncle! Then again, if you knew what he's like, you could hardly blame me.
