Was expecting quite an awful day in camp, but it turned out better than expected. Only one more day between me and the weekend! Anyway, I’ve finished the rhombicuboctahedron, but the rhombicosidodecahedron’s just too darn difficult to glue together. Unless I do the big version, the net of which requires six pages to print out. That seems a bit like overkill though, so I think I'll pass. Modelling polyhedra in virtual reality is a lot more convenient and aesthetically pleasing! Permutation City is a bit confusing because the plot alternates between two different time periods, and it's a bit hard to see where the whole novel's heading. No lack of ideas though, which is only to be expected in an Egan novel. Randomly, I like the backing beat for Out Of Your Mind. There's a bit of syncopation going on, which is very refreshing to hear in what is essentially a very straightforward piece of pop fluff. Doesn't bear much repeated listening though. Have been listening to the rest of the Rush Of Fools album, and yeah, definitely a must-get album when I see it in the stores. |
