Have been reading Distress, and I'll probably finish it before turning in for the night, so that I can get started on Permutation City tomorrow in camp. Must make good use of my last free week in July! It's the little things that we do to assert control over our lives that keep us sane, especially during NS. Like doing this applied psychology diploma. It's my way of telling the powers that be to sod off, because this is a part of my life that they can't control. I hate compulsion, even if I submit more often than I rebel. Anyway, I was going to say that I don't really like Distress, and it's partly because the science involved isn't as exciting. You know about TOEs, yeah? That's Theory Of Everything for those of you who unlike me, don't possess all manner of useless factoids and trivia. It's hard to get excited about TOEs, especially when said plot involves the discovery of the TOE somehow unravelling the fabric of reality into pure mathematics. Yeah. Really exciting stuff, if you can imagine it happening. The idea is intriguing enough, but I'm afraid it doesn't make for a very interesting novel.
