Cuddle Up Day/Profess Your Love Day/Great Turtle Races Day/Tomato Festival (Louisiana)/Blueberry Festival (Texas)

Lunch at California Pizza Kitchen was great! Dinner at Pizza Walker in Wisma Atria was so-so, and the guy serving us, whom Kay Hwee suspects was actually part of upper management, had this annoying way of tagging on "Thank you!" to everything he said in response to you. I mean, how much more fake can you get? I'm sure he meant well, but it was really weird. Found another Greg Egan novel, Teranesia, at the Orchard library. Also picked up this random novel translated from French because I liked the blurb, think it's about the dissolution of a marriage. Bought a lot of stuff from Kinokuniya, including the Picador edition of Cunningham's Flesh & Blood. I think I'm just about ready to abandon Oblivion, because the writing just isn't exciting me enough to keep on reading. I'm going to finish Ballantyne's Divergence before I go to bed, because I absolutely have to know how the whole Watcher saga ends. I think the only flaw of the trilogy is that its reality is insufficiently concrete. You have a vision of the future, but it's not fully fleshed out in detail, so what you get are tantalising speculations on future technological developments, including the usual AI-becomes-God angle, but not much of a context to set the whole thing in. Basically, Ballantyne only gives you enough to support the storyline and its action. I still think it'd be pretty cool to make the trilogy into a movie though...
