Have been sick for the past few days, so I finally took an MC today because I woke up in the morning and couldn't bear the thought of trudging to camp in the early morning, just to force myself through a run and attend a meeting (which turned out to be about nothing to do with me), before taking off for the afternoon. I'd like to point out that I am genuinely sick, just in case you're someone like my mum, who totally disapproves of me saying things like not enjoying military life and other related negative comments. Hence the caveat. As if I'm not saying things that tonnes of other people voice in much cruder and way more vulgar terms. I think it's hypocritical to have to self-censor yourself like that. It would do this country a whole lot of good if everyone, especially those in power, could just learn to lighten up and laugh at themselves a little. See what I just did? I self-censored. No country, no party name. Force of habit. You get to be so careful of what you're saying, as if words alone could subvert because that's what we're always told. They might, but only if they have something to feed on. Words are like seeds sown into the minds of people, just waiting for the right circumstances to germinate, take root and flower. Is the outrage over so-called government propaganda just another subtler variety of the very thing it's decrying? |
