Armed Forces Day/Plant Something Day/Circus Day/Malcolm X's Birthday
2007-05-19 @ 9:43 p.m.

When it comes to guard duty, I have a sense of responsibility that perhaps borders on the pathological. If I didn't have such an aversion to the military life, I suspect I might have gone far in this organisation. Unfortunately, power isn't much of a motivating factor for me, at least not in here. Outside, however, that's another story altogether. Am doing counter duty, but only because my friend forced our way into it. I felt a bit bad about that, but then again, the people we pushed out probably would have had no qualms about doing the same to us in the first place. I don't suppose I can always keep feeling bad about getting what I want and giving in to other people just to feel better. The line has to be drawn somewhere between selfishness and selflessness, and this is as good a place as any. Besides, those guys probably have an easier life in camp than I do, so in a warped sense, I deserve the slacker position!
