Guard duty tomorrow. I hope it rains if I end up having to be one of the prowlers. Am trying to pull counter duty! Planning on bullying the four guys joining the seven of us into surrendering any notions of doing counter duty themselves, assuming they're fit to be prowlers. They might not, because the number of supposedly sickly people here is astounding. Sometimes I wish I were half as dishonest as they were, if dishonesty it is. If not, my sympathies are with them. I hate painting the vehicles. It's a freaking waste of time, and doesn't exactly satisfy anyone except my team IC, who is probably addled anyway. Who gives a damn if all the Unimogs aren't the same shade of nondescript grey? I certainly don't. I don't see anyone else in my camp painting their vehicles. The only thing it's good for is getting a tan, and that's only if you're doing it in PT attire and the sun's out. It wasn't today, at least not till the afternoon, when we were all exhausted and sleeping. Reading Byatt's Angels & Insects today. Two novellas, and I managed to guess the denouement of the first, Morpho Eugenia. The second, The Conjugial Angel, is a bit less interesting. I really hope it rains tomorrow...
