Finished reading Mark Rowland's The Philosopher At The End Of The Universe and Rachel Klein's The Moth Diaries in camp. The latter's a book I've been interested in reading since I came across it in Kinokuniya, but I've never felt it was worthwhile paying money to own a copy of the book. Having read it through, I think I'm right. The story's not bad, and if you're a neurotic teenaged girl, I'm sure you'll identify with it. Otherwise, if you're like me, you'll just feel like giving the narrator a few tight slaps. I know the whole point's supposed to be whether Ernessa is or isn't a vampire, but honestly, by the end of the book, I didn't really care. I'm quite bored of this whole unreliable narrator stuff, so at least Notes On A Scandal isn't quite as tiresome as The Moth Diaries, although Barbara could do with a few tight slaps of her own. Think the next time I go to the library I'll borrow The Forsyte Saga. Ambitious reading, because it's monstrously thick. Sort of like Middlemarch. Haha... |
