Holi/I Want You To Be Happy Day/Purim/Full Moon Day/Hina Matsuri/National Anthem Day/Balloon Roundup (Washington)/Black Heritage Festival (Louisiana)

Celebrated my paternal grandmother's birthday with a dinner at Lingzhi, which is this vegetarian restaurant in Liat Towers. It was okay, I guess, although vegetarianism really isn't my thing, at least not the Chinese practice of it. There was even vegetarian shark fin soup, which was really salty. I still don't understand what is the reasoning behind mock meat. I'm all for appealing presentation, but surely if you're going to give up the consumption of meat, it makes little sense to dress up your vegetables and tofu as meat? I'm not concerning myself with the issue of the taste; I'm questioning the necessity of making it resemble meat in appearance. Anyway, I'm too much of a carnivore to give up my meat, especially fish. I eat almost every kind of fish I've encountered, with sardines and herrings being notable exceptions.
