Why are all the employees of That CD Shop women? Just sort of realised it today because there was a pretty employee at the Pacific Plaza outlet. I walked from Pacific Plaza to Borders to HMV to Pacific Plaza. Reason? To buy a book (had a voucher) and look for the Café del Mar Aria series (latest musical discovery). Eugene tells me Gramophone's cheaper than That CD Shop, but since I'm more willing to pay for the convenience of knowing I can definitely find my CDs at the latter, I don't mind too much. Bought Arthur & George, since the Vintage International edition of Julian Barnes's most recent novel is finally available. I find it harder and harder to buy books these days! I have particular editions of particular authors that I want, so I won't just buy any random edition I happen to come across. Then when it comes to a series of novels, it usually takes me a long time to get the whole set, as I always feel like they'll be there for the buying. Of course, there are random discoveries every now and then. Even Barnes was a discovery I made after hearing Mr Purvis talk about Love, Etc., albeit in a somewhat critical way. He said it was clever, but it lacked heart. Something along those lines anyway...
