Sat on the MTR today, and it's less crowded than I remembered. Not surprisingly, I was the one navigating through the rail network, even though it's practically identical to our own MRT system. I basically asked my dad to keep his mouth shut and told everyone to go wherever I instructed them to. I spotted Amston, Harold and Thong Seng (all from my camp) at Hong Kong Disneyland today, but none of them noticed me. I find it amusing that my dad was the most excited of the five of us while we were there, like a grown-up kid. Personally, theme parks don't do anything for me, so I've had as much of this side of Hong Kong as I can take. I want to shop for clothes and eat dim sum! Besides, Disney gives you grossly unrealistic expectations about life. I've also noticed that Hong Kongers pick very interesting monikers for themselves. These are just the ones I spotted while I've been here: Ardis (F), Kidsy (F), Luffy (M), Peko (M), Saradonna (F), Wakley (M), Zola (M). Incidentally, for all the Chinese pride on being somehow culturally superior to the barbaric West, the way some mainlanders behave is disgraceful, to say the least. I don't care who reads this, because it's true, and if they can't admit it, they're sorely deluded about themselves. There was this old woman standing behind us in the queue for one of the rides, and she just kept pushing against us, trying to force her way through. Really, it's not as if the queue was going to evaporate just because she pushed hard enough... This week: Winter |
