Had dinner at NYDC, since my dad asked where I wanted to go. Read a bit of Everfree, which is the final part of Nick Sagan's trilogy, and now I find myself hoping the publisher will release the three books in one volume. That I would buy, regardless of how broke I am, which happens to be very at the present moment. That's despite my not going to Kinokuniya yesterday to pick up Possession and whatever else Vintage International has published of Byatt. It's confusing, because Byatt's one of those authors published under both Vintage and Vintage International. Haven't a clue what's the point. It's just like Calvino being published by Vintage Classics and Vintage International. I guess it's a matter of which cover you prefer. I like Vintage International for Byatt and Vintage Classics for Calvino. Anyway, I've been wondering what makes a song "work". For example, Chris Tomlin's How Great Is Our God has gained a place in the list of songs our congregation is comfortable with, but something like Planetshakers' Fall In This Place probably wouldn't. So why the difference? |
