Candy Corn Day/Bodybuilder's Day
2006-10-30 @ 10:36 p.m.

Was listening to Darren Hayes's The Tension And The Spark today, and it's obvious why his sophomore solo effort wasn't a smash hit like his debut, Spin. The sound is very electronic, which I happen to enjoy, but it doesn't make for very good radio fare. It's a shame because some of the lyrics are actually very good. Started reading Vikram Seth's The Golden Gate on the way to camp this morning, and it's witty. Plus it actually rhymes. Do you have any idea how rare that is in contemporary poetry? Just so you know, Seth's a trained economist. I suppose it just goes to show that there's hope out there, even for practitioners of the dismal science. Just kidding! Connectivity exercise today was also better than expected. At least some of the trainees seemed to understand what I was trying to teach them. It seems that we're not going for Exercise Wallaby anymore, which is great news. It basically means that we can slack again, just like when everyone was in Taiwan for Exercise Starlight. The only thing is that there's definitely going to be guard duty next month. I'm probably going to have to cover for one of my colleagues, since five of them are supposed to be supporting a local exercise and won't be around to do guard duty. Amazingly, I'm the only one who wasn't rostered for November. Guess that doesn't matter now, does it? Haha...
