Eat A Pretzel Day/Mother-in-law's Day/Used Car Day
2006-10-22 @ 10:55 p.m.

Props to my team today, you guys did a great job! I like working with musicians who can just make everything sound good without needing to be told to do so. If that sounds like I want them to read my mind, well, to a certain extent I do. It's quite interesting to watch the congregation when you're in front. You see exactly who's singing and who isn't, and sometimes, you get surprises. Like seeing old people gamely singing the song they're probably most unfamiliar with out of the whole worship. At least I think they were singing, which was kind of cool actually. Yeah, so standing in front is cool and unnerving. It's very easy to tell when the congregation is completely not interested in the song. I kind of miss the energy you feel when leading youths. At main service, everything needs to be modulated to a moderate tempo, which is boring. I'm sure that's not what "blended worship" means! Anyway, finished the Borges anthology today, so I'll probably bring Birthday Letters to the combat shoot tomorrow. I don't think I'll have much time to read though, but I need to console myself with something while practically everyone else is enjoying a long Deeparaya weekend. Sigh...
