As expected, our boss isn't satisfied. You know something? I don't give a damn anymore. Let him throw whatever he wants at us on Monday when he comes down to inspect the vehicles. I don't see why I should slavishly do the bidding of someone who's impossible to please. Seriously, the only way to get into his good books is to know programming, because that puts him at the programmer's mercy. So me and my friends aren't going to try to meet his standards anymore, because he doesn't seem to realise that they're unrealistic given the nature of the training that we conduct at SI. Have you heard of someone asking you to paint a bunch of metal spikes just because they're a little rusty? For starters, painting affects the conductivity of the spikes, which kind of defeats their purpose of earthing the Unimog. Then there's also the fact that it's a waste of resources to repaint them after every outfield exercise. Tell me who's going to look at the spikes? In all the time I've been at SI as a CSO, nobody has come down to bother us about stupid things like that. Nobody at all. So who the hell is he to demand all this? The last time I actually did something that fell squarely within my job scope as a CSO was about a month ago. That just shows you what this organisation is like. This guy's not playing by the rules that get everyone by in this place, and that is bad news. Very bad news. To cheer myself up after a really bad day in camp, I met up with Andrea, Claudia, Nasty and Shou Jie for dinner at Newton Circus. (Okay, so technically it was supposed to be a sort of farewell for Claudia.) I've only been to the temporary site, so I've no idea what the place looked like before it was renovated. I must say it's very sanitised for a hawker centre. It's practically a food court, sans the air-conditioning. Food was okay, but naturally more expensive because of all the tourists. Then we headed over to Arab Street. This is where things get funny. Firstly, the bus driver kept calling Shou Jie over to ask him about NS. Then we missed our stop, which was actually right outside Blu Jaz Cafe. We ended up travelling along the ECP, before cabbing back to Arab Street. The hilarious things that happen to us! Tried shisha at Samar, and it's okay. Apparently, I can look quite zen when using shisha. In any case, I won't be raving about it like Nasty and Shou Jie, although I think the food at Samar is worth exploring, so I'll probably go back with them again. |
