You find out all sorts of fascinating things surfing in the e-Plaza. Last week, it was ElectricSheep. Today's discovery was Orion's Arm, a fictional world-building exercise which basically envisions a very distant future when civilisation has spread throughout the Orion Arm of our galaxy, mostly ruled by Archailects, which I understand are AIs that have evolved into god-like entities. The whole thing's very fascinating and realistic, and I'd be surfing the site instead of blogging, if only I could access it. (Something seems to be wrong with my Internet connection today!) Incidentally, the conclusion to Nick Sagan's sci-fi trilogy is out. Now I'm just waiting for all three novels (Idlewild, Edenborn and Everfree) to be collected into one convenient volume. Am taking Friday off to pay a visit to Federal Optik. I'm not leaving until I make a new pair of frameless glasses! Was also reading up on The Sandman series in Wikipedia. It sounds interesting, which Kay Hwee probably could have told me months ago. Am tempted to buy the series, but I read that new editions are going to be issued, starting this November. Guess I'll wait? This is a very bad time to become enamoured of yet another author's work, in this case, Neil Gaiman. Oh well. Won't do anything till I get some more money in the bank... |
