Ganesh Chaturthi/Just Because Day/Banana Lovers Day/Compassion Day
2006-08-27 @ 10:28 p.m.

Thought today's worship was good, especially in terms of song choice. I swapped with Lai Mui, so now I'm leading next Sunday. Lucky for me, I've already planned the songs that I want to use. Have started reading My Name Is Red, and Pamuk's writing shares an affinity with Borges, Calvino, Hoban, and to a lesser extent, Kundera. If you've read extensively any of the four authors' work, you'll understand. I'm waiting for Mark Z. Danielewski's new novel, Only Revolutions, to become available in Kinokuniya. Since it's being released only in mid-September, I'll probably have to wait a while. Danielewski isn't the kind of author who'd sell particularly well in Singapore, outside of a cult following perhaps. I think Hui Juan's passing my copy of House Of Leaves to Rachel, and wants to borrow Freakonomics instead. I'm supposed to sell my spare copy of The Alchemist to Shirley. So if you're reading this, Shirley, remind me to bring the book next Sunday! Otherwise, I'll definitely forget about it again. Seriously.

This week:

Religious Week
