Son's And Daughter's Day/Alcatraz Day
2006-08-11 @ 8:18 p.m.

The exercise wasn't cut until around 5 am, and no, we never did get the radio link up, at least not at the minimum required quality. Today was basically spent sleeping in camp, with occasional interruptions to settle things like washing our vehicles. My complexion's quite awful after so many days of sleep deprivation. Thankfully, our lull period's coming soon, which means more time to slack! I've been reading a collection of Hardy's short stories, and his sense of irony pervades the work. Finished Ishiguro's When We Were Orphans a while ago, and I thought it was a return to more familiar territory for him, coming as it does after The Unconsoled. One good thing about NS, for me at least, is the amount of time I get to spend reading all the books that I bought but never managed to get around to reading. The next time Kinokuniya has a 20% discount promotion going on, you know where to find me!
