Watched another two movies today, Birth and Miss Congeniality 2: Armed And Fabulous. The latter was just a brainless excuse to parade Sandra Bullock in a variety of pretty outfits, but it was mindlessly enjoyable. However, the former was yet another letdown. Firstly, Nicole Kidman looked hideous with short hair. Secondly, for all its being marketed as something approaching a horror flick, its central premise was trite and contributed very little to the creepy factor. How scary is it to have a little boy declaim repeatedly that he wants to be with you because he's your husband despite said husband having died years ago? It ought to be unnerving, but Kidman's character takes a perverse pleasure in the idea, even to the extent of wanting to attempt what would amount to an elopement with the poor kid. What's more, it isn't made clear why exactly said jailbait thinks he's her husband. Too many loopholes, even for a temporary suspension of disbelief.

Went to the YE gathering at Kenneth and Shaun's house, which is huge! I don't really like this year's NDP song, although Kaira Gong's singing isn't too shabby. Did you spot the part when she started lip-synching too early? That was kind of funny. Company was great. We watched Singapore Idol after the whole parade has ended, and trust me when I say I could be more spectacular than some of the finalists. Especially Joakim. It's amazing he's lasted so long, but it just goes to show that in Singapore, talent is sometimes still secondary to appearance. After that, most of us ended up playing double whacko at the rooftop. Some people are terrible at that game! Either they react too slowly or they don't pay close enough attention. Haha! Took a taxi home with Audrey because it was getting late and I'm involved in a integrated summary exercise tomorrow, which means I need to sleep because we're definitely staying up till very late (or early, depending on how you view it).
