Was the only new guy at dinner, as all those from my batch decided that they'd rather eat at the cookhouse than walk out to civilisation. It's very depressing to see that specialists aren't too bright, considering that they get paid more than I do and two of these guys are going to come into my branch. I look at them, then I look at their predecessors, and I wonder what I'm missing. Their setting up drill took way longer than it should have. Even if we had to stay back for the night phase, the morning and afternoon phases still took longer than necessary. The worst thing was that we stayed back for the night phase because their course commander wanted it, but it rained, just like during my own setting up drill. Anyway, why can't the specialists just all be a little cleverer and move a little faster? You get people asking you questions like "Can I come down now?" after they've placed on the antenna but before they've jacked up the mast. It makes you want to smack them on their heads and reply, "So you're expecting the mast to magically extend itself?" I hope things go better during their connectivity and summary exercises!
