Groovy Chicken Day/Aunt And Uncle's Day/Coffee Milkshake Day/Friendship Festival (Missouri)/Violet Festival (Ohio)

The amount of shit that has to be done in my camp is mind-boggling. I guess it depends on who's asking you to do stuff for them. I remember there was this female staff sergeant who actually treated us like people, instead of just subordinates to be ordered around. My friend and I both agreed that we'd be perfectly willing to help people like her, if only because we'd feel like our help was appreciated. Usually though, you just get some warrant officer telling you to "Do this!" or "Get that!" I think one of the reasons why Singapore hasn't developed into a gracious society is the dehumanising nature of her military culture. Expect people to worship your rank and you tend to start forgetting that the people you're yelling at and pushing around are often people who want nothing to do with you whatsoever, and only suffer you because they've got no choice left to them by the system. I can see why people might want to run away from it all, and I'm not just talking about NS anymore. On a lighter note, have I mentioned that my dad bought one of those chocolate fountains? I actually had fondue for breakfast on Sunday. Dark chocolate is divine!
