Flag Day
2006-06-14 @ 8:32 p.m.

I got scolded by my ACOE for accepting the EMS offer without consulting him first. Like what the hell? Firstly, it's not like I'm definitely going to disrupt my training by booking in and out for stuff. I just said it was a possibility and I was informing him out of courtesy. Secondly, and more importantly, I'm not about to turn down the offer just to avoid disrupting what I think is an archaically draconian course. I suppose it isn't every day that you get people missing training for my kind of reason, but my ACOE ought to be less anal about it. As for driving, even my first time out on a public road couldn't revive my jaded senses. The way I see it, most of us can already drive. The only problem's that we can't do it the way they want it. Rules versus instinct. There's an article in our classroom about some place in Europe where they did away with traffic signs and related paraphernalia. The result? Zero accidents. It's incredible how sensible people can sometimes be when you let them think for themselves!
