Worship went okay, although I wasn't as satisfied with it as last month's. Well, you learn, and then you improve the next time. Am once again toying with the idea of writing a prose piece, except this time, I'm thinking bigger, like a novella. Am rather taken with The Lake House's central premise, so perhaps something along those lines. Perhaps an epistolary approach? I'm terrified of getting sued for copyright infringement though, so perhaps I ought to run the whole thing by someone who's read The Time Traveler's Wife and seen The Lake House. That's when I've actually written the damn thing, of course. I really think it could work this time! Maybe I'll inject bits of my life into it, turn my stay-in driving course into an incarceration for attempted suicide. That is a crime in Singapore, right? I'm setting the thing in a place that'll vaguely resemble Singapore, although the physical location is somewhat secondary to the plot itself. I have ideas, but too little discipline to develop them properly. That's something I admire about Wilson. He writes in that notebook of his everyday, and I think it takes great perseverance to do that, even if you're simply jotting down ideas as they come to you or framing a coherent storyline. I wish I had that sort of determination. To quote Epictetus, "If you wish to be a writer, write." |
