There are way too many touts at the famous Newton Hawker Centre! Had dinner and supper there, so take my word for it. Didn't get much of a chance to catch up with anyone. It almost feels like we don't know what to say to each other anymore, now that we're no longer in school. It's as if we're negotiating the transition to adulthood, only we've left our conversations behind in our scholastic past. I suppose such things take time and effort, both of which are in short supply for all of us, bustling about our new post-JC lives. In case you were wondering, Life! was right about The Glass Menagerie. Not that I didn't enjoy it (because I love going to the theatre), and I thought the scenes that focused on Emilie Oehlers's character were wonderful. Did you know she played a psycho in the last season of Heartlanders? Just a random factoid. Anyway, is it significant that her nickname is Blue Roses? Horticulturalits have long sought to breed a blue rose, but the genetic complexities involved in this process have largely rendered the quest futile, even with the aid of science. (However, this article describes how scientists have finally succeeded in breeding a rose that has "genetic potential to produce 'true blue' roses, spanning the spectrum from palest blue to Mediterranean blue, or even navy blue".) Might it not mean that Laura Wingfield isn't meant to exist in our world, that she is, indeed, destined for a life of contemplation of her glass menagerie? |
