Guard duty's kind of lame, if I may say so. I've just finished my first shift, so I'm resting and waiting for the next one in about two hours' time. Got prowler instead of sentry, but everything turned out okay in the end because my prowling partner's done this twice before already, and my stand to point isn't too far away. We're lucky because the duty officer's tonight's doing this for the first time, so if we can make it to 1 am without turn out or stand to, we'll be safe for the rest of the morning. So far, my platoon's done guard duty twice, and I believe I've mentioned that nothing happened to them. We can probably expect the same, but until 1 am, trepidation's the word. Sleep isn't that big an issue this time, as we had practically the entire afternoon off, thanks to our instructors' efficiency. Next Wednesday's guard duty is going to be a totally different story...
