Find A Rainbow Day/Chocolate Mousse Day/Circus Day/Workplace Napping Day
2006-04-03 @ 10:24 p.m.

The following are writers I admire for their ingenuity: Jorge Luis Borges, Italo Calvino, Russell Hoban. This is by no means an exhaustive list of writers I hold in high regard, but merely a group whose work seems to share certain common characteristics. The chief of these is the invention of worlds that audaciously bend, break, shatter the rules governing our own. Fundamentally, English literature and continental literature differ. Obviously, the influences on them haven't always been the same, but I'm talking about right down to the way in which language is manipulated by the writers. Compare Baudelaire and Frost, Eliot (George, not T.S.) and Sade, etc. There are exceptions, like T.S. Eliot, but would you concede the point in general? Will probably be doing guard duty this Wednesday, and definitely on Maunday Thursday. At least it's only half-day duty! I hope I get sentry both times, which is theoretically possible, since there doesn't seem to be a fixed way of determining who gets to do what. Bad news is that my platoon may be the one getting posted to 3 Signals Battalion. I don't want that to happen, for reasons that will only make sense to my church friends, so I'm praying and keeping my fingers crossed. One of my instructors reminds me of Mr Kwok. Now that is scary.
