Got rejected because it was pretty obvious I had no idea why I wanted to be a pilot, let alone why the RSAF should take me. Anyway, I'm not going to command school, let alone OCS, so they couldn't take me even if they'd wanted to! Posted to Signal Institute, Stagmont Camp. Most people say it's a cushy posting, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they'll be right. The interview was actually very time-consuming, although I fail to see why it had to be so. Put it this way. I got there at 8.30 am, then had my interview around noon, before waiting nearly an hour to be dismissed from the SAF Careers Centre. Finished reading By The River Piedra I Sat Down And Wept. "Waiting is painful. Forgetting is painful. But not knowing which to do is the worst thing of all." Coelho has the ability to say the most clichéd things and still leave you desperately hoping against hope that he's right, that you really can find someone to love the way Pia finds her childhood friend again years later. Perhaps it's a folly to think that way, but despite how all my reading and experience informs me that the world just doesn't conspire to happiness as and when we want it to, I can't help thinking that maybe it could happen. Not necessarily now, but eventually, ultimately, inexorably. What is life but a game of waiting? We either wait for things to happen to us, or await the chance to make things happen. Although I had to give the class lunch a miss because of aforementioned interview that dragged on far longer than expected, I was nonetheless able to meet up with the Guitar people for dinner. Caught a free performance by EIC outside the Esplanade, a fantastic local band. Check out some clips of their music here. The song about a certain female celebrity advertising for Citigems made me smile! I hope EIC cuts an album, or at the very least, an EP. Speaking of which, Lee Latchford Evans, formerly of Steps fame, now fronts his own band, The Latch. Have a listen here. It's very different from what he did during his days with Steps, but I think the music now does more justice to his vocals. Going off to pack now. I'll be back on Sunday! |
