Polar Bear Day
2006-02-27 @ 10:56 p.m.

We're having a farewell party for our platoon commander who's been posted out of BMTC to 4SIR. It's kind of a pity, what with POP being just over a week away and all. Even though we've known for a while that he might be leaving, it's still a saddening prospect. Of all the commanders in Raven, he was the only one who struck me and my friends as a really father-like figure, something very unusual to find in a place like Tekong. Having him around truly made BMT a better experience, and our platoon is sorry to see him go. Ah well, that's how the cookie crumbles. Today was also our final SOC lesson, so we did the full course. Couldn't get pass the swing trainer, as I'd expected. Hats off to all PTIs, who have to clear the whole course in full battle order as part of their training. (I find that mildly insane, but maybe that's just me.) BAC tomorrow, which possibly entails crawling through mud. I hate that, but I will not whine overly much.
