Cuddle Day/Carnival
2006-02-25 @ 11:59 p.m.

Never The Sinner wasn't as good as I'd expected. (Things hardly ever live up to our expectations of them, do they?) I think the two lead actors lacked chemistry, especially since they were playing lovers. They did share an onstage kiss, which generated the expected collective gasp from the predominantly teenage audience. (Isn't it amusing how easily shocked the younger generation is? You'd have expected them to be the least fazed by two men sharing a kiss onstage.) Rachel was there with her TSD class, as were lots of Humanities people. Mr MacConnell was performing with his wife. You should have seen our juniors mobbing him outside. Dinner before the play at The Tapas Tree was better, a lovely Spanish place that I intend to go back to. (I say that about a lot of places these days. One only wonders when I'll actually get around to making good on these promises to myself.) By the way, House Of Leaves is very good. The NUS thing, inappropriately titled An Evening Of Poetry And Music since it started and ended in the afternoon, was very much a case of been there, done that. While not exactly self-congratulating, one did get the sense that this was a very insular group of people. The poetry read during the opem mic session was by turns tedious and funny. One of the guest performing groups was very entertaining though, these two guys from local band, Leeson. They were so good my dad bought their EP, Hero Music, on the way out. You can take a listen here.
