I think the sound of Enigma, like that of Delerium, has drifted into pop territory. Not that this is a bad thing, mind you. I personally find a track like Sadeness (Part I) too sparsely orchestrated compared to the lush mixing of Voyageur. (Incidentally, Return To Innocence, which is the first Enigma song I listened to, strikes me as being too formulaic. It was apparently written because Virgin wanted Michael Crétu to produce a hit single. Figures.) I think I'm beginning to grow fond of some aspects of life in Tekong. It has its own rhythm, and we all know how routines have an endless fascination for most Singaporeans. Had a canteen break today because my platoon was the first to rack up 550 pull-ups. Kind of fun, because you get to relax and enjoy yourself thoroughly at the canteen. It's almost like recess! Just had a little chat with my platoon commander. He asked if I'd been called up for MDC auditions. I really want to be, but there's no chance of that happening. Resignation feels like an easy way out. My mantra until December 2007: Don't think, just do. This week: Golf Week Nostalgia Week |
