Going to my maternal grandparents' place is always quite an experience. My grandmother fusses over us, offering us food and drinks, and talking to us in Teochew, which neither my sisters nor I understand. My first cousin once-removed has a funky first name. He's called Leoric. Has a rather mediaeval ring to it, don't you think? Watched Memoirs Of A Geisha, which wasn't as good as I'd expected, to be completely honest. Zhang Ziyi looked quite bad, at least when compared to Gong Li, which is decidedly ironic, seeing as how she supposedly upstaged the latter as the premier geisha. I suppose this is one of those stories that should have been left on the printed page rather than transposed to the silver screen. That's what I think anyway. Never read Arthur Golden's novel actually, so I'm just hazarding an opinion here. Maybe I'll get around to reading it. Like sometime next year! Oh, and I saw this punk butch at Burger King wearing New World Order, so I guess the brand has more street cred than I thought.
