Chocolate Cake Day/Fun At Work Day/Thomas Crapper Day/Mozart Day/Snow Goose Festival (California)/Polar Bear Festival (Nebraska)/Winter Carnival (Minnesota)

There was nothing really fantastic about today's food, so I can't believe we stayed back in camp just for that. Had a really slack day. I guess it's worth sacrificing this one day to book in later. School 1's booking in on the day of the class party, which means at least three of our class guys will have to rush off from Yumun's place. Just a brief update on university applications. Cambridge is not offering me a place, but York has made me a conditional offer of AAA. St Andrews is putting me on hold like York did earlier, so I'm quite hopeful of getting an offer too. Told Mr Purvis about everything, including how I'm keen to do the joint English and Creative Writing degree at Warwick. Out of my six choices, I only really wanted Cambridge or Warwick badly. My plan has all along been to do my undergraduate studies at one and my postgraduate work at the other. Now I just need to get those freaking good grades for a scholarship from anywhere. Preferably OMS, but EMS is fine too, as long as I can get deferred entry somewhere. Even so, I'm sure the system's only keen to groom officers, even if that's technically not a criterion for being awarded OMS or EMS. Perhaps I will content myself with obscurity instead.
