I'm listening to Borrowed Heaven as I type this, and I think it's sonically a lot stronger than In Blue. That album sounded overproduced, offering slick but essentially cookie-cutter pop. Personally, I feel Borrowed Heaven strikes a perfect balance between the pop elements of In Blue and the traditional influences of Forgiven, Not Forgotten, which makes it a brilliant piece of work really. I've also realised that Orange Music is slowly bringing in music that I really enjoy. At the moment, it only distributes Australis, Gnomusy and Ikarus, but I'm sure there's more to come. I'm quite taken by Enigmatic Obsession's Secrets Of Seduction, and now I want to find Achillea's The Nine Worlds, which is another solo project by Jens Gad. An online review at Morpheus Music (an excellent site to hunt for "Music Of Relaxation - Passionate, Heavenly, Earthly, Unearthly - Synthetic") says that Enigmatic Obsession's sound recalls the early sound of Enigma, circa The Cross Of Changes, so I'm thinking of finally buying Enigma's CDs, but since there are quite a few of them, I want to be sure that I'll like them. I've only ever heard Return To Innocence, and I quite liked it at the time. Any Enigma fans reading this? This week: Healthy Weight Week |
